Ahhh! A wonderful break and freebie for you!

Yippeee! It is officially the holidays! We are off this week for our Thanksgiving break, which is already 100 times better than last year. (remember the dreadful H1N1 hit me hard) I am watching my two boys play with two of their friends from church and reflecting on how blessed I truly am! Not only do I have two great and healthy boys, but I have two awesomely compassionate and good at heart children! I am so thankful to God for trusting me with them!

I will be in town all week this year for the holidays, which is also a change for us. But I have already shopped for my meal (and got it cheap thanks to my coupons!) and planned for my Black Friday events! I am sooo ready this year!

Now, on to what you have been waiting on…the freebie! I am so fortunate to work with a lot of great designers in the digi scrap world and Kathy Winters is one of the best! I love all her work! Here’s her latest collaboration with LauraMarie Scraps “Christmas Jingles”.

Now isn’t that just the cutest holiday kit around! I fell in love with the pink and raspberry colors mixed in with the greens! You’ll also love the elements and alphas. I loved it so I hurried and made my December 2011 pages with this kit…here’s a preview…

WOW! It has been a while! School happens! LOL! So, I have been enjoying all my CT commitments and also finishing up my 2011 calendar for all my family members! I really enjoy making those because I get to reflect over the past year. But that will be another post!

It was awesome! So easy to use and I love how versatile they are! I chose the colors for the IL Color Challenge this month and enjoyed browsing for inspiration!

My Baby's Growing Up...and a freebie!

Big day in my house yesterday...Jake turned 7! Whoohooo! I had five kiddos over and then spent all afternoon in the pool! Fun! Then we finished up the celebration with Jake's favorite --- Mexican (my fave too!) and cake! Jake was so tickled when he got the traditional whipped cream facial! Zach had to join in as well and do it to himself! I love my boys!

So in honor of Jake's big day, I created this mini just for him. He chose the colors and I did everything else. And you can grab it here for free!

New Passion!

So I haven't updated in a while...been busy enjoying the summer! Since the last update, my brother got married! Yeah! And we spent a few days at Disney World. Meantime, hubby had tonsillitis! Other than that the boys and I have been spending our days at the pool! Fun!

Now, I have to share my newest find (and latest passion) COUPONING! Yes, I am getting addicted to saving money and the challenge of finding the best deal! In my area, the Southern Savers blog is my goto place for the deals.

Here's a snapshot of my latest adventure...today I spent $28 on this haul!

See why I am proud of myself! And we are getting to eat real food! Since May 29th, I have cut my grocery bill by 50%! My moolah for me!

Happy Mother’s Day & a freebie for you!

As Mother’s Day approaching, I decided to share with some of my thoughts and wishes for this Mother’s Day. Let me add that as I type this my youngest “angel” is screaming his head off because he is not winning at the wii!

First, I don’t think of myself as a shallow person. Really. But I am struggling with the way I am feeling about this Mother’s Day. So, this week every night was devoted to a kid’s activity…flag football, baseball, church, etc. Two days of work missed for kids’ illnesses and Mothers’ Day activities at school. And the only free time I had to myself to relax, pray, etc. was when I was shopping today for groceries or when I would wake up in the middle of the night from coughing my head off. And to top it off, my DH brought home pine straw and finished off my flower beds and said “Happy Mother’s Day!” Don’t get me wrong…I am not ungrateful, but IKNOW he would have done it anyway but because he did it this weekend it is my gift!

Now I am know I am speaking to the choir, but come on! Why am I being so selfish…I just want to have a day where is not all about what can MOM do now! I even asked my boys if they could just started a one sentence every now and then without saying “Mama” first! (they can’t …they tried but were not successful)

Oh well, now that is off my chest, on to the goodies…I am dabbling a little in designing. I had started this kit a few weeks ago but am not 100% happy yet, so I am offering out the papers that I am pleased with now to you for FREE! Hope you like them!

WOW! Where have I been!?!

So I didn't even realize that I haven't updated my blog for over a month! I believe I must have some major SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) because the sunshine from this weekend must have brought me out of blogging funk! LOL! I have been busy...working, church, chaperoning middle schoolers on a field trip to FL, and doing the ADSR!

I also have been busy scrapping! Of course, I shared that I am so fortunate to work with several amazing designers. One of those awesome ladies just opened up her new store at Scrappity Doo Dah! (YIPPPEEE!) Pixiemama Designs even debuted some new works with this opening...including the Frosty Freezy Kit.

Loving Weekends

Can I just add one more time to this blog how much I love weekends!?! Why yes I can because it is my blog to do so! I LOVE WEEKENDS! Not only do I get quality time with my family...kiddos are so much fun when you have them all day long on rainy days! LOL! But I get to catch up on scrapping stuff...like last night, I spend probably two hours organizing my completed pages by year and also by which ones were ready for printing and not going to be printed. I got another shipment of 2009 pages yesterday and I still am missing about 5 or so pages to have that yearly scrapbook finished! Yippee! Then I can move on to 2003-2008 books while working on the current year! LOL!

Too Cold for anything else...

Howdy! As you know I hang my hat in the deep south, but apparently it is not deep enough! It is FREEZING here! I can't remember being so cold ever! I don't think it has been above freezing since Thursday (and then it was brief!) and we have even had snow...nothing to show for it! And I got to enjoy another PJ day with my boys yesterday since we had SNOW...LOL! Yep, all you folks living in the north get a good chuckle out of us Southners! Anyway, I am so over being cold and ready for some warm sunshine!!!!

Boohoo! My winter break is coming to an end! While I have had a blessed holiday, I have gotten quite used to being lazy, wearing jeans & a sweatshirt and scrapping all day if I wanted! LOL! I do get another day to sleep in and nap, but I am sure I will be getting everything ready around here for us to head back to school Tuesday.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all! WOW! 2009 flew by! I have had a hard time hearing 2010 today but I am sure I will be getting the hang of it soon enough!

So since I last spoke with you, Christmas flew by with the boys tearing the house up with new toys! My family has come and gone and I spent three days chaperoning our church youth group to a mountain retreat! And you know what, I probably gained a greater yearning for doing God's work while watching and working with these kids! Can't wait to see what the new year brings!

On the first day of break

I have been working on the finishing touches of my 2009 scrapbook! I ordered a few more pages to add and have a few more pages left to make to complete the book. I looked all over for a freebie or a template out there for the year in review to serve as a cover page or title page for the book. Since I couldn't find anything I really like, I broke down and made my own...and here's what I came up with!

UGH! The flu bites

So, I spent the entire Thanksgiving break dealing with H1N1! And I am still not 100%. Besides being weak and tired constantly, I believe the cough is the worst! I normally have bronchitis every year, but not like this nagging, hack! Even the cough syrup doesn't help a whole lot and it is the good stuff. But I am a big fan of Tamiflu! And thank the good Lord above, no one else has gotten it yet!

So I just got my first printed pages back from MyPicTales and I love them! They look great! I can't wait to put them in a book and show them off! They did a great job and it was so reasonable (only $1 per page). I also ordered my calendars from them as well. I will let you know how those came out as well!

Well, I did get one thing done productive during the break (and that is about it...ONE)....the boys Christmas pictures taken. Here's a few of the better ones...

Laid out.....and a freebie for you!

So, it is the beginning of my Thanksgiving break and I am laid out with my back! Don't know what is going on, but it is really bothering me! I bent down this morning at church and haven't been the same since! After two pain pills, sleeping four hours and applying heat most of the night...still no relief! So I guess I am doomed to head to the doctors' office tomorrow! Keep prayers headed my way! I have never really had back problems so I hope it will pass quickly! Especially since I am headed out of town Wednesday for Thanksgiving and will be in the car for 7.5 hours....UGH!

Now, to the scrapping news...I have loved playing with all Tiffany and Jaya's goods since being on their CT. My latest adventure is creating papers for a challenge at Inspiration Lane (who have the ABSOLUTE best challenges around!) using Inspiredbydominic Designs Art Box vol. 1 overlays....FUN! So here's what I came up and you can have them for free....as long as you show some love!

Where were we?

So do you feel abandoned? Hope not! You know how sometimes life has a plan of its own...that's how I have been lately! Between my baby turning 4 and everyone getting ready for the holidays, I feel like I blinked and missed something! So since I was on here last...I am now a member of a great CT team. I am working with Tiffany at Inspiredbydominic Designs and Jaya with JayaPrem's Hangout. And I am having so much fun! I have gotten my scrap mojo back and been a scrapping fool! I am also now on the Inspiration Lane Rave Bridage, so I am also on the forum showing love to all the great layouts! This also has been wonderful because I have found so many styles and creations that motivate me to be a better scrapper!

Now, I have been working this week with Jaya's Boys Will Be Boys kit exclusively at Scrapable. WOW! Fun kit because it is all masculine and everything but not in your traditional "Boy" colors.

Hey all! I am so glad that Friday is finally here! What a week! I don't know about you all, but we have the icky, yucky, snuffy/runny nose, cough, and sore throat thing. Luckily, we don't have fevers, but just not very comfortable. That is what I hate most about having little ones that don't feel good!

So we finally made it to the pumpkin patch yesterday. Jake and I went with his class and had a great time! Weather was perfect! Zach gets to go next week. So we are planning on carving pumpkins this weekend. =)

I have been feeding my new addiction as well this week! I can't seem to get enough scrapping in...I have even changed my perspective about taking pictures. It is not, let me catch them doing this so I can remember them forever...it is how can I get a unique layout using this idea. Any of you at that stage of addiction yet?!?

As you know I am incredibly addicted to challenges on the different forums...like inspiration-lane and digidesignresort! I did one last night that I wanted to share the template with you!

Random thoughts to ponder...

Okay, so maybe I have been out and about more and you feel neglected, but you have been close to my thoughts! I guess my ADD brain has been overactive lately because I have been having random thoughts plaque me! For example here is one...this is for all you Facebook fans....have you noticed that you know everything about some folks. It is like, the status updates included everything in their life. For example...I woke up at 6:45, then off to the potty to tinkle, then decided to eat cereal! So what?!? Enlighten me with important events instead of the mundane!

Now, to the scrapping update! I have been working on a few pages this week, some I am very happy with. I am working on getting my galleries updated so I can starting working towards some CT work. I would love to work with some of the designers that I use all the time! I am sharing a word art that I put together for a page I finished earlier today. I love being a mommy and I personally think I have the two best boys (on most days!)but I know there a few of you that feel the same way about your guys! So I am sharing the famous words of Maya Angelou.

Sorry I have been away

For so long....I have been dealing with so many issues! First of all, we had a terrible tragedy within my church family recently. Two members of a dear family were killed in a car accident while enroute to the beach last week. One of the deceased was a former student of mine and a sweet girl that had made her way into my heart like few others before. So in between, working with people at work to plan a memorial, helping out some with the church preparations for the family, and the normal run of the mill stuff I have here at home. I have been wiped out during my normal scrap time! Here's a little something to share with you in memory of Crystal!

But I am back...and I know you are so happy! So I am now getting ready for the holidays...Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas! Ahhh my favorite time of year! I am making some of the gifts this year using my digi-scrap stuff and the ideas for hybrid items off several of the forums. I also am going to make my own calendars this year for the family! This is something I have been wanting to do for several years now, but finally feel like I am able to tackle them. So be on the look out for some freebies here soon! I will share what I come up with...now back to work!

Rainy Days....

First of all, I want to begin this post by saying I am so grateful for all the rain that we have received recently. As compared to the last few summers in our area, we have been blessed with the rain. This year is one of the first I can remember in several years that we have not had severe drought water restrictions.

So here goes the but....Rainy days just wipe the mojo right from my body! All I want to do is be a couch potato or "Blanket Yankee" as my hubby calls me....and y'all know I am anything but a yankee! LOL! Outside of the weekly trip with the boys to the library and then to the grocery store, I have not really been good for nothing! I have been alternating between reading (another Karen Kingsbury), designing, or napping, my favorite! And best of all, my DH has fixed every meal I have eaten today----yummy pancakes and delicious spaghetti & meatballs!

Now, for the goodies...I have been doing so many challenges lately. It is like an addiction! I have moved from my Facebook addiction to the forum boards of Inspiration-Lane, Gotta Pixel, etc. I can't get enough...LOL! So on one of the challenges I had to do something with colors that inspire...so I decided to try another kit. I have been working on it off and on this week and I think I am about ready to share it with you! I am offering it to you as a freebie! I will also start working on some QPs soon with the kits I have done so far...so please share your thoughts!

A new me...

So I started this journey to a new me during the winter...nearly six months ago! I attended my first Weight Watchers meeting on March 19 and today, I am officially 50 pounds lighter! Talk about birthing a baby...I have lost more than my boys weigh now! So I am really excited and motivated to continue loosing! I feel better than I have in a very long time! God did not intend for our bodies to be overused and over abused! I am now devoted to taking care of myself...Once I get the nerve, I will update with some before and after pictures!

So here's the latest freebie! With school in full force, my freebies are quick and short during the week. I am working on a Fall theme mini in one of my challenges and created this word art to go with it. So it is all yours! Of course, I am expected to view some of your work or receive some feedback!

Love holiday weeks!

So I have had a super long weekend off and will return to work tomorrow! Boohooo! However, can I say that I truly enjoyed my time off! I got some scrapping taken care of! Hung out with the boys! Visited with my SIL and her family! The boys really love playing with their cousins even though they may be 8-10 years older than them! LOL! I joked that having my nieces spend an afternoon with my two rough and wild boys was the best birth control imagined! LOL!

And the motivation for the next few days is that I only have a three-day work week! WHEEEEHEEEE! Can you tell that I am pretty pumped about that!?! Church is also starting to kick up in activities too! So I am really glad we missed the fall sports sign up cutoffs because Jake and I would not have cut it this season!

I also got some shopping in and that was actually enjoyable! I was able to shop in the misses' department instead of plus/womens' and could've gone down another size...but I am still timid to show off my shape (or lack of shape!) so opted for a little loose! Then after dinner I dragged the family out for a walk/bike ride! Of course, Zach was dragging towards the end of our 2-mile trek and I had to push his bike. It was exercise never the less!

So playing around with photoshop more and trying to decide what do next...so I played with Christmas photo cards. I don't know about you, but choosing the perfect card each Christmas is a chore for me because I want to be unique but also chose one that fits our family...religious, colors match, etc. Plus this year, I want to venture out and make one that is not the run-of-the-mill store generated card so I am going to make my own. So I am in need of your feedback...

A True Southern Lady...

Loves some football on Saturday! And it is even better when the Dawgs are playing! No, I know how to spell, but here in Georgia we spell it just like we say it! Even though my boys were outscored today (Boo OSU!) We are a young team and will rebuild to our championship form. Anyway...SEC is the only conference in all of college play! So with opening day today, I was inspired to pull out some of my UGA tailgating/football pics to scrap and thought I needed some color-coordinated pages and elements. So I decided to venture out and create my own! Yes, this is my first kit and I am so excited about it! I am offering it as a freebie for a week or so to see if there is interest in and then may open up a store to start selling my products.

Life Changing Freebie....

So, I have been under the weather and stubborn. I have been experiencing mild flu-like symptoms since last week and chosen not to go to the doctor. I believe it is about to get the best of me, so I may break down go today or tomorrow...as much as I hate it!

Now, my inspiration for my freebie today! My life had a course that was driven by my profession about 10 years ago. I had anted everything...to be in school leadership no less. I had even envisioned district-level leadership at times. Then....I became a mother and learned that my life goals were suddenly different. Much of the reason for our move back to Hartwell. WOW! Now, I can't think of anything better than leaving a life legacy and being the family God intended us to be!

For all that missed me....I have a freebie for you!

Absence makes the heart grow fonder....

I know that you all have missed me! I have missed you too! Sorry for the hiatus, but my life has been crazy! Maybe I would have less stressed if I had opened up on my blog, but couldn't find the time or energy. I haven't even been active on FB in forever...which is amazing in itself!

So in summary...I have had a student steal personal belongings from me (note: first time ever in 17 years of teaching), learned that my students are significantly lower than we expected and have been struggling to meet their needs in the classroom, worked out 3 times a week, started back to Wednesday night Prayer Meetings at church (boys are in Awanas again), dealt with hubby trying to fix my van (which wasn't all that broken until he started fixing it), and have felt like crud since Tuesday. WOW! Now, I am tired all over again! =)

Now, I have not been scrapping or designing like I wanted to either because I revamped our school website over the last couple of weeks. Check it out....HCMS So I decided to get back in gear yesterday and I did it full force. I have been busy working on some of the challenges at Inspiration Lane (LOVE 'EM) for points which I can redeem for free product!

So, what I can here for today...Share a freebie with you! I started into scrapping by chance in July by looking around online for a pool party picture invite for Jake's birthday. I was blown away at all the creativity out there and, of course, wanted to learn how to do it myself! So now I am an addicted digi-scrapper! I am now starting to think about Zach's party theme and thought that I would make a card too for his birthday, which led to today's freebie! Here's a card template for just about anything! I am also sharing an example I made using the template.

Finally Friday!

Yipppeeee! Friday.....is......finally.....HERE! I have never been so ready to sleep in! I have been seriously sleep deprived this week and needing so major napping this weekend, but I doubt it will happen! Spending the day with my family at the lake tomorrow then church on Sunday! Much planned! I will have my camera along so I'm sure more pages to follow! =)

As a teacher and a mom, I am constantly showing kids how to do something, even if it would be much easier to just do it myself. Those moments inspired the following word art that I created. I plan to use it with a page featuring Zach who is the most independent child I know.

The things we do for those we love....

Can I just say that my hubby owes me big time!?! I had to purchase something that guys need occasionaly in the summer and could not find it at the store. So I called him and he wasn't sure where it was kept so he told me to ask the pharmacist. Great! So I do and of course, I do know her....we do live in a small town. I now know more about fungii than I care to know! So, I will be reminding him over and over how much he owes me for this....=)

Updates...Jake lost his first tooth yesterday and the tooth fairy made it to H'well! And the going rate for teeth these days is out of this world...$5 for the first tooth. I can remember when I thought I was rich for getting a quarter. We are also learning more sight words. Of course, this is new to me because we don't do this in middle school. Zach has been a fireman all week! He is still adjusting to not having Jake around all day! So I have many moments to catch up and scrap this weekend!

My dear friend and team mate at school has joined me in working out! Yeah, Debbie for getting back in the swing! I enjoy working out and it is even more fun with a buddy! Cross your fingers and say a prayer, I weigh in tomorrow and haven't been tracking this week so I'm not sure what results will be!

Super Sunday!

Okay, so the first week of school is under my belt! My classes are great! Jake and Zach seem to be happy with their classes as well. After trying to get back on schedule with household chores, laundry, shopping, etc. and being back at work,today was an awesome day! Church was great---even with my Sunday School class of 7 boys ages 3-7...yeah! Joe and my dad took the boys fishing on the lake, so I was able to be a bum today! FINALLY! I took a long nap and caught up on some school work. What a difference a nap makes...I believe we could learn for Mexico and implement siestas daily! We would have a much more productive world! LOL!

So, I have been playing with Photoshop again and LOVING it! I have made a blinkie...snag it if you like! I also have a freebie for you! (Do I hear your yippeeesss!?!) Here's a template for you! Please leave me some love if you like!

Here's a page I created using this template. I used the Pocket Full of Sand papers from dizzyscraps.blogspot.com. I had wanted a way to spotlight my Zachie's first memory of the beach. I had several snaps of the day and thought that the wave of photos was a perfect way to highlight the changes. I had such fun creating it!

One last triumph for the week...at my weekly weigh in, I lost another 3.8 pounds! To date, I have lost 54 lbs. since January. And boy, do I feel like a different person! Weight Watchers has really been a life-saver this time around for me!

First Week Funnies.....& an another freebie!

So as you know I just started back to teaching this week and as always those "kids say the darnedest things!" Here are a few of the best after day two....

1. In one of my TAG (Gifted) classes, after telling the students a little about myself, someone knocked on the door. One of the new kids answered the door and say "No she isn't." I asked him who was at the door and what did they need. He said that they were wondering if Mrs. Dombrowsky (which is me....) was inside and he said Nope....Let's hope there is more to this Gifted thing...LOL
2. A young man that hasn't quite reached the growth spurt that happens in puberty found it interested that his classmates were challenging him to fit inside a locker. And he tried....and could!

Now for a few from my own bright star...Jake in his first two days of kindergarten!

1. When we asked about his day yesterday, he mentioned going to the gym. So I asked him if he had PE and he looked at me like I was crazy and told me no....he just went in to do his exercises....Hahaha!
2. My mom, who picks him up everyday, was in a tizzy yesterday afternoon about lunch. I asked what she was talking about. Apparently, Jake had told her everything he got for lunch yesterday and the best part was that it was FREE! She thought I had not sent him any lunch money and he had to charge. Neither of them knew that I had prepaid last week for his meals. Jake thought he was special! =)
3. Last, tonight, Jake was clowning around with us after dinner. He had came back into the room after running a quick errand for me and had his shorts pulled down low on the butt "bustin' some slack"! He even had the walk down! While we were both giggling underneath, Joe and I both had to quickly correct him and tell him that he would get sent to the principal's office. Oh what will he pick up this year....

My babies are growing up too fast!

Today was another of those milestone occasions! First Day of School....Ahhhh! Of course, I have had many first days to celebrate through the years, but none have compared to sending my baby to "big school". Jake started to kindergarten today. He was of age last year, but Joe and I chose to hold him back to mature another year since he was so young last year. Wise decision on our part because he was so ready today! Of course, he is in great hands...Mrs. Tolbert and Mrs. McIntosh! We are truly blessed with his placement now!

Here's the proof that he was more than ready....

Let me add that he improved a great deal from this picture taken moments before....

Zach also ventured on his own way today too! He was actually at preschool today alone without Jake for the first in his life! He struggled a little at the beginning, but he will rebound in no time! He is such a easy-going child that I don't see this being a problem. In fact, he will thrive in his own arena and I am so excited to watch him bloom! Here's my Zach-Attack!

Starting a New....And a freebie for you!

Whoa! I just rhymed and did not even plan it! So, I was not on much last week mainly because we started back to school. During preplanning, we teachers really did not get much planning done at all! I know that is not a surprise to those of you out there that teach, but I really wish the higher ups would wise up a little and let us have a day to get our room set up and plan with our other teachers. But not this year...LOL! On top of everything, we are always furloughed for three days this year. Our first furlough day was this past Friday and, in protest, I did not go to the school and chose to mow the lawn and tidy up the yard instead! I hope my dear hubby appreciated my efforts! If nothing else, it really entertained my two boys!

On an another note, my oldest, Jake, will start kindergarten tomorrow! I am so sad! I have held on to my boys being little and not exposed to so much of what goes on in the world! But now I feel like I am losing a little of my grip! But Preacher Tommy's sermon today hit home for me! On going back to school, we as parents should be preparing our children to be equipped to handle the pressures, demons, and dangers of our world. I also loved the reminder that our children should see us praying and practicing what we preach to them. I hope with all my heart that my boys will retain these lessons I have been teaching since birth. If so, my day tomorrow should go pretty smooth.

Zachisms and being published!

I am a little giddy! I am so excited that I opened up my blog page and noticed that I have been published! WHOOHOO! I had shared a finished product using a template with the designer and she used it on her page! Check it out! http://midnightscrapping.blogspot.com

After a long, but fun day, I decided to share some precious moments from my boys this week! First, my boys have been at home with me almost all summer and when I went to work for a little while yesterday, they decided to go with me! I was suprised but secretly thrilled because they usually choose to spend time with Papa. But they have become Mama's Boys this summer and I am going to miss them next week when I go to work! Now for the funnies....ZACHISMS! Anyone that knows my Zach knows he is a mess! He has his own vocabulary! A few of note lately....the TV remote is the comode! No matter how many times we tell otherwise...it is and probably will be the comode always! Next, on the phone with my mom earlier this week, he told her he was eating butt beans. However, we were really having butter beans...he decided they were butt beans! LOL! Last, my parents took the boys to Cracker Barrel last night. Zach told them that he was happy and really liked going to Cracker Berry! I love that boy!

Jake received a letter from his upcoming Kindergarten teacher. While we are excited, I am concerned that she will be married shortly into the school year and possibly out for a while. Jake has struggled with transitions before and used to have issues with substitutes in preschool. Say a prayer for us that he will have a smooth transition and a great year!

I am about to head to bed...I actually slept 12 hours last night! Thanks to my loving hubby for letting me sleep in until 10 am! I felt like a new person today! I am hoping for another restful night tonight!

Let me catch you up!

Since I shared with you last, my mother and father-in-law have been visiting. The boys are in heaven! I am sure that Grandma and Grandpa are going to be pooped when they arrive in Florida next week. With our cooler temperatures, we have been staying close to home and doing more here...reading, reading, puzzles, riding bikes, etc. I have also been able to scrap a few more pages when the boys head to bed. I am getting really excited about some of the finished products!As I said earlier, we have been reading a lot this week. Zach has the little imagination! He is sooo entertaining, reading the story himself. Of course, he can't read the words, but what a picture he can paint from what he sees! He even added Grandma's glasses to help out! LOL!
Zach will be my creative child! He can pretend he is anything in the world and doesn't mind dressing the part...even caught him in a Tinkerbell dress next door before! LOL! He is too cute! Love that boy!

Hardest Job I've Ever Had!

The most difficult job I have ever had would be that of a mother! WOW! The Devil has tempted me so over the last week. Jake and Zach have done so many minor things over the last few days to test me that today was the "straw that broke the camel's back". To begin with, the boys were not listening to me and avoiding getting ready to leave for church. It did not help that their dad was outside cleaning cars (more fun than mom!) and our neighbor was also outside playing! So, I made them jump in the van and head to Sunday School....which led to a rough morning! Jake proceeded to threaten me with his BB gun, call the police on the other boys in the class, etc. Amanda, my ever-so-patient co-teacher, asked Jake if he woke up on the wrong side of the bed and he spat "No! I just wanted to stay home!" AND our lesson today was "Love your neighbor as yourself!" Romans 13:9 Alot of teachable moments today in class! LOL

So, we come home and the boys continue on with their dad and eventually spent time playing with Ally, our neighbor. When I returned from church this evening, I had had it! Jake would not come home from next door. Zach was yelling at me that he was going to stay at Ally's all night. The house was a wreck! (I had it spotless yesterday!) Dinner dishes were everywhere...but in the dishwasher! And it was already 8:45 pm! ENOUGH!

Needless to say, Mommy Dearest came out. I was carrying one screaming child across the yard and thankfully, no one called the Hartwell PD because I promise I did not harm him! Once inside, Jake yelled at me about hurting his brother and then KICKED me! Oh no you didn't! So I sat Jake down and popped him on his leg! Of course, I had to leave and cry in my room!

After I had collected myself, I called a "family meeting". TV was cut off, lights on, and all attention to the speaker (which by the way was primarily me!). Zach was not sure exactly what was going on and not really paying attention to everything I said. But Jake was there and understood completely what was discussed. Rules were set forth...do something the first time it is asked; if not, 5 minutes of time out and spanking on the third strike. No fun activities, ie pool, playdates, library, playing with Ally, etc. until all chores are done daily. I even explained to Jake about his comments earlier in church and how on the streets people are arrested for threatening to shoot someone. Of course, I ended with scripture to honor your mother and your father as well as I do all this for love! Jake came and gave me a hug and told me he loved me afterwards! That was worth it all!

So, tonight I have been praying and reading God's word to help me through this tough job...you know, the most important job you will ever have comes with no training and little instruction! The following verse really helped me understand why talking the boys tonight was necessary!

Proverbs 29:17 Discipline your son, and he will give you peace;
he will bring delight to your soul.

New Hobby!

WOW! What a day (Saturday, that is!) Since we were coming back from Florida last weekend, we postponed Jake's birthday party until today! And we had a blast! The weather was absolutely gorgeous! Friends and family were with us today and Jake had too much fun swimming! When we came home, we all decided to tackle the chores so we could enjoy the day tomorrow (Sunday). I keep forgetting that I am posting this officially on Sunday....don't worry, I am only confusing myself! So I was absolutely beat when we finally settled down tonight, which allowed me some quality time with my newest hobby....digital scrap booking!!!

Ohhhh! Almost forgot to toot my horn! So far I lost 39 pounds since March on WW! Yippppeeee! I have really been supported by my family and friends and encouraged when I haven't felt like sticking with it! Still on my way to getting more off....enjoying "The Climb"!

Happy Birthday Jake!

My little man turned six years old today! WOW! Where has the time gone...feels like yesterday, I could snuggle him (barely, he was 8 lb. 3 oz.) in the crook of my arm and rock him all night long! Now, I am lucky if he wants to sit with me to read a book.

With our vacation ending this past weekend, we planned Jake's birthday party for this Saturday. However, this has caused great confusion for Jake. While we are cutting cake with family this evening after supper, he doesn't understand why he is not having a party today. He has asked me all day if today was his REAL birthday or his FAKE birthday! LOL!

On another note, Jake is venturing out into another sport. As of today, he is old enough to play football so we are signing him up for a camp for the next three weeks. I am taking him and leaving him (GASP!) with his dad during camp. This will be tough for me! Remember this is coming from the person that has either coached him or been team mom for every team so far! But he needs to be independent in this adventure! Plus, it will be rewarding for him and Joe to do this together!

Plank in the ol' eye!

WOW! Have ya ever been in church and felt that everything said was directed towards you?!? Well, today Tommy's sermon was one that definitely had me feeling like someone was standing on my feet instead of stepping on my toes. From Matthew 7:1-6, Tommy spoke today about how we judge others and the biblical interpretation of such. So, here I was thinking that I was doing pretty good about not judging others (I know I say it enough....."It is not for me to judge!" is one my common sayings), but not sooooo.... I was doing so during our entire vacation! While at the theme parks in FL, I was constantly making comments to my hubby about how people were dressed (especially while at the water park! HUMMMMMM!) There are certain things men should be wearing in public. But I was not equipped with the facts as the Bible expects of us. Maybe certain types of swimwear are the only types sold in some countries. =) Rather than judgemental, I should be more tolerant of some differences among God's people.

On the other hand, I know how it feels to be judged without knowing the facts! I hope all ears were perked up while the sermon was going on because I strongly feel that "people that live in glass houses should not throw stones". While trying to be helpful to friends and families, I have personally been "judged" as "stabbing a friend in the back" or "not caring" for a family member enough because I was not all in their business. Again, I will tell you whether or not I agree with you, but I do not judge what one is doing. A difference in opinions or beliefs is not a judgement. One final thought on the subject, a Christian is a believer in Christ. Christians are Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, etc. Christ will judge those that will celebrate in Heaven or suffer in Hell and He will be the only one. Let's remove the plank before make statements regarding other demoninations.

New to this...

I have always enjoyed reading other's blogs and thought to myself....I'd never be able to do that. Several reasons came to mind...1. I am not a writer! 2. I would probably bore people to death. 3. When would I find the time. But, I have decided to bite the bullet and give a try. I love the share my mischiefs and beliefs with others and what better way to get that stuff off my chest! So here goes...

First of all, I have the very proud mama to two precious boys: Jake, 5, and Zach, 3. Joe, my dear hubby, and I made a life-changing move Nov. 2007 when we within two weeks, placed our house on the market, moved an hour away and both started two new jobs, make significantly less money, for the benefit of our boys! We were able to move closer to my parents, take the boys out of daycare (Praise God!) and spend more time as a family! It was a struggle, but the benefits definitely out way the negative aspects. I went from having two weeks off each summer with the boys to having 6 and also being full-mom instead of two or three nights out for work. I was a school administrator prior to moving and went back to the classroom during this move. It has reduced my stress level multifold! God open this door for us and we prayed about it and felt that if closed this door that God would not open it again for us! I wanted to move prior to having the boys start school and we just did it earlier than we planned! =)

I am also a strong believer in Christ! My love for God, my church, and my faith is a driving point in all I do. I have been through many tough times in my life and I feel the absolute best today because I have 100% completely turned it all over God! Worry, stress, and doubt are gone from my life! I constantly feel His presence in my life in all things (big and small!)---Jake's fractured back, the light in my Sunday School kids' eyes, my parents' renewed faith, etc. I am so thankful all His gifts and most of all, His unconditional love!

Last, I have been working hard at changing my life in another way as well. I have been a member of Weight Watchers since March 2009 and so far lost 36 pounds. I would like to lost about 75 more pounds. I feel like a different person and love being able to do more with my boys!

I will update regularly about these topics and more throughout this journey! I look forward to hearing from friends, new and old!
